depressed in Montreal

perhaps going from being a freelance scriptwriter to a freelance artist in one's fifties isn't the best idea...submitted 3 exhibition proposals to Optica today, but not overly optimistic to say the least. Not overly optimistic about anything today. So not overly optimistic started a blog within a blog, my "nobody asked you to make it", documenting my failures and rejections in the Canadian art world. (to share wallowing, see sidebar). Suppose I can be optimistic about the failure listings growing.

as an art student I shot a series of women on tv. Got them digitalized at wonder Costco this week. Wow. $2.98 for 4 rolls of negatives transferred to a CD.

come out of the closet. I have, after four years of reckless driving, taken millions of pix of Ms Hula Montreal in and around Montreal. It's time for a show. A retrospective. A klassy coffeetable book! Anyone have any leads? Bright idears?

I should have posted this before the Kiefer rave. His stuff is so jaw dropping awe-some, the tendency is just to hang up the brushes, camera, whatever. I look at his work. My work. Shudder.

all day, sorting out fotos. Have a scheiße load of hulas, eg. that are now archeological artifacts. Have had a digital camera for 4 years + have been snapping madly. And in the basement another load of slides + negatives. Next step, galleries, potential book? + on the burner...organizing a benefit for the Monteregie SPCA...where to begin? The head spins.

sad bad news

as an artist, do you use the stuff in the media? Today a huge boat sank. There's the Middle Ages War of the Religions...the Crusades all over again + murder + mayhem + sadness..is it ridiculously naive to wonder if it's exploitive to use this stuff in art...? Oh, I listened to M Atwood today on that horrible CBC Sheila show...it's the closest thing to nails scratching a blackboard.
