think, hope I'm finally on the right track, re: Lachine canal. Getting the industrial revolution, hub-bub economic artery of canada + all that with some vaguely nostalgic overtones. This is 48x60 on wood panel, in oils.
with landscape painting. Re-viewing changing lachine canal views. Got too geo-politic + in my own head + neglected actual beauty of the canal. however big interal struggle not to be a calendar painter, but perhaps went overboard. challenge, cool beautiful relevant po-mo, litely expressionistic abstracted unique + richly rendered landscapes. easy-peasy. Uh-huh.
truly amazing as the model is the same for each one. seem to be channeling ol' el, young el, fat bloated el, elvi the pelvi...all from one plaster bust. Curious to see how they turn out as I approach 101 Elvi. My goal.
of Angy. Dutifully waiting for the train to pass before he could run, born free. As free as the wind blows. As free as the grass grows. Born free to follow your heart, and all that, etc.
the building. Nor will he leave for some time if I can keep up the, dare I say it, obsession. + what's the plural? One Elvis, two Elvi? This should keep me busy until it's warm enuf to paint outside. Next goal, paint the Canal on my Angus walks. I plan to get that very first green.
