Yes, I understand completely, Edith. When a person is in the groove and something other than "I" guides the hand then good things tend to happen. This is especially true for a gestural painter like myself and I can see that it is probably the same for you, who strives for something fresh before intellectualization and obvious artifice. It's a bit of a mystery.
Thans wh...I love playing with negative/postive shapes but I usually forget to unless I do it completely unconsciously. You're a painter, you understand what I mean, right?
I was all about colouring inside the lines with my colouring books. It was liberating to eventually break that rule. Your coloured shapes and drawn shapes are free of each other and yet dependent on each other. It makes something in my mind go "click".
