I wondered.  So I googled around + found it was ostensibly americans for prosperity. Here's a pic of a meeting organizing "average Americans" to protest the possibility that 40-50 million uninsured Americans should get proper medical benefits.  Note the multi-cultural/racial range of the group + the number of youths.   Note also that the foundation's  chair + founder is David Koch, the 9th wealthiest person in America

Perhaps if they didn't spend money on ads dissing Liberal politicians when there is not even an election, there would be money to give scholarships to  kids that need + deserve sholarships.  In my youth (the Trudeau, Liberal years) they were plentiful + much appreciated.

on the Teen Choice Award show the other day.  This is the same conglomerate that broadcasts all those incredibly right wing, red neck shows... Bill O'Reilly + Sean Hannity etc . Imagine that.  (And the pole was on top of an ice cream cart. Cute.)

Early this morning in 1915, the German military occupying Belgium shot aid worker Edith Cavell at Brussels for aiding the British war effort

I went to Edith Cavell elementary school in Vancouver  + she was a big deal, not in small part, for me, for sharing my name which was a pretty weird, foreign name at that time.  (And thank you astute reader DeeJay for pointing out that it wasn't today at all but October 12....) I'll try + remember when October comes...

today I found myself wondering, what ever happened to Lucien Bouchard?

Where is he?  What is he doing?  He led a coalition which begat the Bloc Québécois a federal party devoted to the dissolution of Canada.  It was to be a temporary party but it has been around now since 1991.  Canada, for some years has been governed by a minority government due in not some small part by the presence of the BQ.  It's ironic, duh-uh.    Lately, I listen too much to American news, specifically CNN and follow Obama's actions. He seems so alert and involved with the lives of Americans everywhere.  And I wonder, where are our Canadian leaders? Why aren't they leading? What are they doing? Sigh.
