Did this last night at my portrait class...top left is by my teacher, giving me a little demo...to the right, my attempt.

40 minute study, 8x10, oil on canvas

First class at the Montreal Art Centre tonight

1st a 30 minute charcoal sketch, then 40 minutes to paint the portrait from a limited palette of alizarin crimson, ultramarine blue, cadmium yellow medium + white with 2 brushes, 3/4 inch bright + 1/2 bright...
