in this city is rampant + irritating. Eg. the Visual Arts Centre in the heart of downtown Westmount has been around for about 60 years. It offers about 60 classes a week. Almost all are 3 hours each. Each class has oh, I dunno, say on average 8-10 students? Each of those students pays an annual fee to take classes, then the fee for the course + then forks out money for art supplies. It employs a permanent staff + a fair amount of excellent teachers + has a wonderful gallery on the main floor. So it's fair to say this school contributes heartily to the well being of Westmount. So why can't or why don't the city fathers + mothers, those elected officials that are supposed to work on our behalf change the parking limitation around the school to say, oh, 3.5 hours? rather than 2? So students/teachers, etc. don't have to run out constantly to put more money in the meters, or move their car during class? Would that be so outrageous? Can you tell I got a parking ticket today? Humbug + this was after driving around for 30 minutes looking for a spot in the first place. How about a special school permit? I don't mind paying a fee to park that extra hour or so + I'm sure a lot of other folks would agree with that. This may sound trivial + it certainly is in the big picture re: all the evil + woes of the world, but it's so do-able + it's such common sense + things that stimulate productivity + creativity + decrease stress + anxiety these difficult days should be encouraged if you asked me.
